What is Naruto?
Naruto started as a Japanese manga all about a young ninja named Naruto Uzumaki. His dream is to become the leader of his village, known as a Hokage. Naruto ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1999 to 2014. It was adapted into an anime series in Japan from 2002 to 2007 with 220 episodes. The English dub came to Cartoon Network in 2005.
Naruto: Shippuden, a sequel to the original series, premiered in Japan in 2007. It ran for 10 years and had 500 episodes. It came to Disney XD in 2009 and switched to Adult Swim in 2014.
Naruto has become one of the best-selling manga series in history with over 250 million copies sold all over the world. It’s praised for its coming of age and friendship-based storyline.
Who is Sasuke in Naruto?
Sasuke Uchiha is one of the last surviving members of the Uchiha clan. His older brother, Itachi, was the one who killed the clan, leaving Sasuke wanting revenge. He starts training as a ninja with Naruto on Team 7. Sasuke wants to become stronger faster, desperate for revenge. This leads him down a bad path as an international criminal. He eventually returns to Konoha and dedicates his life to protecting the village after learning of his brother’s sacrifice.
Sasuke starts off the series as a happy child that wants to prove himself to his clan. His strongest bond is to Itachi, his older brother. Feeling betrayed by Itachi, he devotes years of his life to avenging his family — something even Itachi told him to do after the massacre. This caused Sasuke to become quite cold and reserved.
For a while, Sasuke appeared arrogant. He would only respect people he felt were stronger than himself. After Itachi died in battle with Sasuke, he became even darker and lost a lot of his goodness. He later takes on many of Itachi’s traits and decides to fight for Konoha’s future so Itachi’s actions aren’t meaningless. He became more focused on making connections and even gets married later in the timeline, although he is sometimes stoic towards his family.
As an adult, Sasuke is wiser and mature, showing a lot more warmth. He does, however, still like to insult people. He’s a ruthless teacher but is balanced overall. His dark persona makes him a fun character to cosplay since he has an heir of mystery.
Sasuke goes through a variety of changes throughout the series. In his earliest appearances, Sasuke has black eyes and spiky hair that covers his face. He wore a navy blue shirt, white shorts, and white arm warmers. During the Chunin Exams’ finals, he changes to a black, one-piece version of his usual look as well as a forehead protector.
In Part II, Sasuke is seen wearing dark blue pants, a blue cloth secured with a purple rope belt, and a white long-sleeved shirt that he keeps unbuttoned. His top is replaced with a sleeveless dark grey shirt when he fights Itachi. After Itachi’s death, Sasuke wears a white high-collared short-sleeved shirt and blue wrist warmers. He also wears a hooded cloak. Sasuke loses his left arm at the end of the Fourth Shinobi World War and never replaces it.
Sasuke Sword Appearance
Sasuke’s sword is known as a Sword of Kusanagi, a weapon he had throughout Part II. The large sword has a black scabbard and matching hilt, a long blade that can cut through everything and anything, and is made from durable material.
Ice Import’s replica Sasuke sword is created to perfectly mirror the sword you see him wield in battle in the anime. It has a carbon steel blade that’s about 28 inches and a wooden handle with Sasuke’s iconic crest, making the overall length of the sword roughly 40 inches. It’s simple yet intense, really giving off Sasuke’s overall vibe and embodying his personality and fighting style.
Sasuke expands his sword’s power by channeling his lightning chakra into the blade using chakra flow. This increased the sword’s cutting range as well, letting him cut through anything and numb any target pierced by the lightning blade.
If you want to truly transform into Sasuke at the next convention, you’ll need to find the perfect outfit and sword that makes you instantly look like the brooding ninja. But you’ll also need to study his personality, poses, fighting style, and history to truly embody the character completely.
